Jefferson, our third President, was a not exactly a fashionista. He had is own unique personal style of dress. Although in this quote Jefferson encourages others to join into fashionable matters of style, those who knew him thought his style was quaint and old-fashioned. In matters of principle, Jefferson was clear: principles should NOT change with the times. Jefferson’s quote exemplifies the Belief theme, in that, certain core values are unchanging and define a man.
