What can small and medium sized businesses learn from the “big dogs” 🐶 ? To put it simply: focus on your employees’ talents and strengths. See why and how below. ⬇
It’s easy to dismiss some Fortune 500 practices as impractical or out of reach since their enormous revenue makes almost anything possible. (The revenue cutoff in 2022 for the Fortune 500 list was $6.4 billion.) Clearly these organizations can afford “special” perks like free food 😋 , fancy offices 🏛 , fantastic benefits 🏖 , and competitive compensation 💰.
But guess what? Learning the strengths of your employees and then focusing on those strengths is not going to break the bank or require a new HR team to oversee.
𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐡𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐦, 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐝𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭, 𝐨𝐫 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐫𝐞 𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐬 𝐚 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐧𝐞 𝟓𝟎𝟎 𝐛𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐩𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐥𝐲 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞.
More importantly, creating a strength-based culture has both short and long-term benefits – benefits like reduced turnover, increased productivity, greater profitability, greater life satisfaction for employees, and my personal favorite – increased employee engagement.
Do your 2023 goals align with the benefits listed here? If so, 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐜𝐭 𝐦𝐞 to take the assessment and see for yourself how transformative a focus on strengths can be.
If the insights from your results (along with some coaching) don’t inspire you to be your best at work, then you’ll be out an hour or two of time. But my guess is that this first step will open your eyes 👀 to what Fortune 500 companies have known for a long time:
